VAR Curriculum: Tech for the Future of Teaching [1:00:59]
Justify new tech in a school's budget by uncovering its value in the curriculum! Join Trevor Schubert as he navigates the products that make up VR/AR, Tango, Expeditions, Worldsense, Daydream, Cloud Print 2.0, STEM & STEAM while tying each technology to a specific example within a curriculum. Additionally, Trevor will take a look at some of the margin opportunities for our VARs. D&H Resources: Downloadable Resources: Resources: Any plans for kits with the new Google all-in-one units? Do the G2 model HP Sprouts work with the HTC Vive or Oculus Rift? For your VR Kits, are they fully customizable? Could I get it without the router or without headsets? How "well-built" are the VR headsets in the kits? Will they last long in a K-12 setting? Are there any refurb phone units to use with the VR headsets that will help keep the cost cheaper for my K-12 customers? Mobile phone requirements: Are there plans to allow students to develop VR experiences and then view them? Where does HoloLens fit into K-12? What about 3D printing and 3D scanners? Are they still a play in K-12 or were these more of a fad? And if they were simply a fad/buzzword in K-12, will the same happen to VR/AR? Does the teacher have the ability to control Expeditions within VR themselves, or are they only able to control it from outside VR? Does DH offer a VR demo kit? If not, how much would it cost me to purchase enough product to demo for my customers? Can you add asset tagging to VR kits? Is E-Rate a dead deal? Are there any other programs available or on the horizon for my k-12 customers? How easy would it be to set up a VR/AR mobile cart that could be brought from classroom to classroom instead of a permanent set up in one classroom? Are the phones provided in the kit or are they a separate purchase? Could this be used in a hospital setting for kids who spend a lot of their time in a hospital due to medical issues? Do the AR headsets all connect to one another? Meaning, do they all see and interact the same thing? How long until kids are going to school in VR from home instead of attending a physical School? How "future-proof" are these VR kits? Will these become outdated quickly? What about emerging tech or products that help extend the life of current classroom hardware or repurpose it somehow? Like a classroom transitioning from tablets for example . What is Green Shipping? How many Chromebooks per box? How are the boxes shipped? Which brands are approved? Will this affect the MFR warranty? What if my customer has a warranty claim down the road? How should they process it without the OEM outer box? Is this a standalone service? yes! While those units aren't slated until 2018 at this point. We will be sure to keep everyone in the loop
No. The minimum requirements for VR one those devices is a GTX 970 or higher. The Sprout has a 960M. Supported cards here: https://www.geforce.com/hardware/technology/vr/supported-gpus
Yes, please e-mail presalessupport@dandh.com to spec out options
The headset we've chosen for this bundle is very durable yes, it's also custom fit for the pelican cases we bundle them with (should you select a 10 pack or 30 pack that includes the case that is)
We've standardized on Non refurb Moto G4's as part of our kit offering. However there are many options out there as the min specs to run Google expeditions are fairly low.
Nothing definitive via expeditions at this time, however there are a host of 3rd party apps and devices like the Sprout that allow the ability to create 3D assets, etc.
Nothing definitive yet but we'll be sure to keep our partners up to date.
Absolutely still in play, if anything this new offering into the VR/AR space further Strengthens that story
They control the Expedition session from a tablet, connected to the same wifi as the student headsets. details here: https://support.google.com/edu/expeditions/answer/6335093?hl=en&ref_topic=6334250
we can configure a kit that could make an effective demo for as little as 1 teacher/student device. please e-mail presalessupport@dandh.com to spec out options
Yes
it is still in play as far as we know.
Very easy, in fact the 10 pack and 30 pack kit options we now carry include a rolling Pelican case to allow for just that. Details here: www.dandh.com/k12
Both, as we've mentioned you have the flexibility to have them included in a quote, or as a BYOD option. details here: www.dandh.com/k12
Certainly, beyond Expeditions there is a host of VR ready apps that would be ideal for individual use.
VR headsets do via Google Expeditions. there won't be an AR headset offering as you won't have an actual headset, you will hold the phone out in front of you or on a mono pod (aka selfie stick) to see Augmented reality, Google expeditions AR will function similar to VR in the classroom in the collaborative sense. it's due to launch sometime this fall. Details here:

Not sure if an entire day in VR is on the horizon just yet (Ready player one) however Cyber schools achieve that now, minus the VR
it's difficult to tell as things continue to unfold and change so rapidly, however positioning these kits as an enhancement to existing curriculums as a way to take Virtual field trips is a very effective way to ensure staying power.
Great question, we have carts and cases that can help extend the life of individual devices depending on the mode surel. But I know Belkin for example makes a stand called the Tablet Stage that allows them to function as a document camera via an app they developed for it that works for both Apple and Android
Green Shipping is a bulk packaging method for Chromebooks. Each Chromebook's OEM box is recycled by D&H, all contents including manuals, power adapters and the unit itself are then placed into customized, secure overboxes for easier rollout by the end user. Additionally, serial numbers of each unit are scanned and printed per box as well as a master spreadsheet per order.
While this number will vary by model size, brand etc. Most units will ship 10-14 per overbox.
Palletized via LTL Freight on most orders. 3 boxes per layer, 3 layers per skid netting 100+ Chromebooks per skid
Asus, Acer, Dell, HP and Lenovo are currently approved. Additional brands can be evaluated on a case by case basis
Not on approved brands
Because each unit is pretested and enrolled prior to shipping. Initial DOA's will be virtually nonexistent. However, as a precaution we can ship a small qty of OEM empty boxes at the customer's request. In lieu of the OEM box, any comparable will be accepted by the approved brands.
This is only being offered as an add-on for standard whiteglove enrollments on Chromebooks. Bill Hersh, Solutions Coordinator
